ROADS are still closed and searches are still taking place at a former Yorkshire Bank premises in Batley town centre today, after it was raided by authorities.
Forensics officers first arrived at the now abandoned building yesterday, sealing off Commercial Street and Wellington Street.
Armed police were also reported to be present and a steel door on the building had been opened.
Roads in the vicinity were closed while there were also disruptions to bus services.
One onlooker at the scene said police had cut a steel door at the back of the building.
Today, West Yorkshire Police released a statement in regards to the incident: "Police attended the former bank premises in Commercial Street, Batley yesterday (Sunday) in relation to enquiries by West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team.
"Road closures were put in place to allow officers to search the building.
"These searches are continuing today and the road closures remain in place.
"There is no risk to the public at this time.
"More information will follow in due course."
