‘GREEN’ vehicles are growing in popularity with the district’s motorists, new figures show.

Department for Transport statistics reveal that in the Bradford district, 757 new ultra low emission vehicles – which include electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles – were registered in the third quarter of 2019.

The figure compares to 523 in the corresponding period the previous year, an increase of just over 44 per cent.

Numbers across Yorkshire and Humberside have also soared, by 41 per cent.

There are now more than 16,300 low-emission vehicles registered in the region.

Greg Wilson (pictured), for car insurance comparison website Quotezone.co.uk, said the total number of ultra low emission vehicles was still relatively small. But he added that as their popularity grows, the cost of insuring them will fall.
