TERRORVISION have been rocking the festive period with their first Christmas single and are busy writing new songs for a 2020 tour.

The Bradford rockers celebrated the 25th anniversary of their album How To Make Friends And Influence People with a sell-out tour this year, and soon they’ll be back on the road tour with new material.

The band’s festive single, Our Christmas Song, is accompanied by a fun video - filmed in a fan’s house - which sees the boys rock out in Santa outfits. The song pays tribute to the “foot-stomping” hits that used to dominate the Christmas charts.

“We’ve always fancied the idea of making a Christmas song,” said guitarist Mark Yates. “There’s only a handful of rock bands that are tongue-in-cheek enough to carry it off - Slade, The Darkness, us...

“This design for a song didn’t come to us until around October. It was a bit late for the whole record-making industry, so it’s just a digital release this year. There’s a possibility of releasing it on vinyl and CD next year.

“Our Christmas Song “is a nod to the foot-stomping Top Of The Pops days of Christmas past. The festive No 1 spot was hijacked by X Factor for many years, and there’s no doubt a bandwagon has been created. Much of the fun that music can instigate has been lost to heart-wrenching ballads at Christmas - but not where we’re concerned.

“We just had some fun, recording the song and filming the video.”

Mark said the band approached a couple of fans about filming the video at their gothic-style house: “They’ve been coming to see us for years and they live in a very interesting, gothic house. They’re called Nomis and Liz and they’re the stars of the video. The basic plot is that while they’re sleeping, Terrorvision break in, play a gig and leave their instruments as presents. Simple, but it works.

“We’ve been gobsmacked by the overwhelming response from the Terrorvision followers. I suppose they have waited a long time to hear something new.”

Mark - an artist and tattooist, who runs tattoo studio Snakes’n’Daggers in Baildon - says the band is working on new material which will be showcased next year: “We’re currently working hard and having lots of fun writing new music.

“The 2020 diary is already looking busy for us, with plenty of festivals and independent gigs, including Holmfirth Picturedrome. We’re really looking forward to playing some songs that have rarely - or never - had an airing.

“We toured How To Make Friends And Influence People to celebrate its 25th anniversary. It’s always great to play an album in its entirety, this one especially. I think the audience knew the words better than us! We decided to wear silver clothes to match the album sleeve - then we got changed and played a ‘Greatest Hits’ to end the night. Great fun!”

Terrorvision broke through in the 1990s with the single My House from the Formaldehyde album, followed by How to Make Friends and Influence People. They had a huge hit with Tequila in 1999.

After further releases, and greatest hits compilation Whales and Dolphins, the band called it a day with a farewell tour ending in Bradford. They later reformed with a tour and critically acclaimed album Super Delux.
