POLICE have reminded people to only ring 999 in emergencies.

They also reiterated that the 101 line also should not be misused.

Over the last few days of Christmas, the West Yorkshire Police Contact Management Centre has tweeted some of the bizarre calls it has received.

There were three on Monday, December 23.

The first was in the morning, at around 11:25am.

An individual rang 999 to report that their shower and cooker were not working.

The Centre reminded people that this is not a "life and death emergency nor is it something that police can help with."

The second call was in the early afternoon of the same day, at around 2:08pm.

A person rang the emergency line to report that their Facebook account had been hacked and their password changed.

The Centre declared that this is not appropriate.

It added: "This needs to be taken up with Facebook themselves."

The final call on Monday came in at 5:14pm.

This time it was on the non-emergency line 101.

But police still reiterated that it should not be used to report that "your heating isn't working".

In the early hours of Christmas Day, the Contact Management Centre received another inappropriate call on 999.

The caller rang to tell police they had a headache.

One disgruntled member of the public responded to one of the Centre's tweets to ask if the callers get fined.

The Centre replied: "Unfortunately no".
