A NEW real-time display has been installed in the bus stop at Menston train station.

The display is intended to keep rail passengers better informed about connecting buses to Otley.

Its installation follows discussions between local councillors and West Yorkshire Combined Authority.

Councillors Sandy Lay, Colin Campbell and Ryk Downes (all Lib Dem, Otley & Yeadon) have welcomed the move.

Cllr Lay said: “We receive numerous complaints about the services which link Otley and Menston and in particular about when a bus might arrive and which of the two stops - the number 34 First service also uses the Cleasby Road stop - it might use.”

Cllr Campbell added: “This should make it a little easier to work out when a bus is coming. There continues to be an issue with First Bus’s refusal to use the station bus stop during the day.

“WYCA are to look at this again and are also investigating if a new car park entrance can be created to allow buses easier access to the stop.”
