A BUSY Bradford road is now open following a crash involving a BMW and a police car.

Shipley Airedale Road was blocked and traffic was diverted.

The fire brigade, paramedics and police officers were all at the scene. It happened at around 9am.

Firefighters cut the roof and side off the car. A female was injured and was taken to hospital, while a police officer was taken to the Bradford Royal Infirmary for a check-up.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "Emergency services were called to Croft Street, Bradford at about 8.54 following a collision between a BMW car and a marked police car which was responding to a call.

"A woman in the BMW received treatment for injuries which are thought to not be serious.

"A police officer was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary for precautionary checks.

"Investigations into the circumstances of the collision are ongoing."
