HOUSE-to-house enquiries have been carried out after a woman pedestrian was seriously injured in a crash with a police car.

The 61-year-old was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary on Monday, following the collision.

She is still in hospital receiving treatment.

It happened on Lilycroft Road, Girlington at around 4.45pm.

A police spokesperson said officers in a marked police vehicle, responding to an emergency call, were involved in a serious road traffic collision with a pedestrian. 

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is now investigating.

In the latest update, IOPC Interim Regional Director David Ford said: “Our investigation is in its early stages but is progressing well, and our thoughts are with all those affected by this incident.

“The woman who was injured continues to be treated in hospital, and we have made contact with her immediate family to inform them about our investigation."

He said investigators revisited the scene yesterday to conduct house-to-house enquiries.

"The next steps will be to analyse CCTV footage, as well as the body worn video and statements from the West Yorkshire Police officers involved," he said.
