OVER 400 children in the Bradford district have benefitted from a selection box appeal, aiming to give Christmas gifts to youngsters whose families may not be able to afford one.

Co-op Funeral Care in Five Lane Ends, with the help of local businesses and the public, donated 409 selection boxes to the Bradford Cinderella Club charity, who then distributed them to underprivileged children.

Jayne Slade, of the Co-op, said, "This is the second year we have done the selection box appeal, and it's been even more successful this time. We've had a huge response from the community. It's been lovely to see everyone come together to ensure that underprivileged children get something this Christmas. I want to say thank you to everyone who has supported.

Jim Saville, of the Bradford Cinderella Club, founded in 1890, said, "It's been a great success. I want to say thanks to Jayne and the Co-op Funeral Care team and to the people of Bradford.

"Sadly, there is still a great need for children in Bradford. But we try to do whatever we can to help."
