A RAPIST has been jailed for 18 years for 11 serious sexual offences.

Akhlaq Ahmed, 44, of Tamar Street in Bradford, faced the court charged with five sexual assaults, two assaults by penetration and four counts of rape.

Some of the offences date back to 2005.

The defendant was handed a sentence of 16 years for four rape offences plus an extra two years for a sexual assault.

He was given concurrent jail terms of two, three and 10 years for other sexual assaults and assault by penetration offences.

Ahmed is subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and must register as a sex offender for life.
