PERFORMING Arts students are taking to the stage in at Southampton City College’s Hub Theatre this week.

They are putting on this year’s family pantomime, Beauty and the Beast.

This is the classic story of the beautiful Rose, played by Level 3 Performing Arts student Maddie Caines.

She finds herself imprisoned in an enchanted castle by Prince Christopher who has been transformed into a hideous Beast by the evil witch Malabelle, played by Level 3 student Megan-Angel Mitchell.

Elliot Lewis, also a Level 3 Performing Arts student, takes on the roles of both the Prince and the Beast.

A full and talented young cast brings this interactive show to life and it promises to be packed with all the comedy capers, colourful costumes, creative scenery and special effects that makes pantomimes so magical.

In addition to City College Performing Arts students directing this contemporary adaptation of the show and performing on-stage, this theatrical collaboration highlights the talents of their Production Arts students who have designed and built the set and props, plus managed the lighting, sound and special effects.

The character make-up and wigs have been created and applied by their Theatrical Hair and Media Make-up students.

Beauty and the Beast will be at the hub theatre, City College Southampton, tonight and tomorrow, starting at 7.30pm.
