POLICE have confirmed that there was a shooting incident in Agar Street in Girlington at about midnight last night.

A member of the public said shots were fired in the latest in a series of incidents that had been going on for four or five days.

He said he thought it was part of a dispute between two families over drugs.

Police crime scene investigators were on the scene today and the street was cordoned off by police tape.

A smashed pane of glass in a door of one of houses in the street could be seen.

A police spokesman said: “At 12.25am today (Monday) police were called to Agar Street in Bradford after a report of gunshots being heard.

“Armed officers were deployed to the incident where damage was found to a property which appeared to be consistent with the discharge of a firearm.

“No injuries were reported.

“Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances around this incident, which is being treated as a targeted attack.

“Patrols of the area have also been increased to reassure residents.

“Anyone with information which may assist is asked to call police on 101, or by using the contact options on the West Yorkshire Police website. The log reference is 23 of Monday, December 9.

“Information can also be reported anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers.”
