TWO BRADFORD blocks of flats might have to be emptied because they have cladding on them which could be flammable.
The owners of Landmark House (pictured) on Broadway and the City Exchange building on the corner of Hall Ings and Nelson Street have been sent a warning letter by West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.
In it, the Deputy chief fire officer Dave Walton asks the owners of 13 blocks across West Yorkshire about their fire safety plans.
He writes that the cladding should be removed from the buildings because of possible fire risks.
Landmark House is owned by Bradford Council and has dozens of apartments. It is fitted with aluminium cladding.
City Exchange is a converted office block. It is not thought that anyone has moved into it yet.
Bradford Council leader Councillor Susan Hinchcliffe confirmed that the council was aware of the letter and the two buildings had been identified by the fire service as being at risk.
The letter from the fire service came after the inquiry into the Grenfell Tower fire disaster and a recent blaze at a students block of flats in Bolton raised fresh concerns about the safety of high-rise cladding.
