THE DISTRICT’S unsung heroes were crowned Community Stars at an inspiring ceremony hosted at the Bradford Hotel.

A total of 10 Bradford Medals were handed out on Thursday night including the Lord Mayor’s Special Recognition Award.

The event is designed to reward those across the district who strive to make a difference in their communities.

Speakers at the ninth annual awards included Telegraph & Argus editor Nigel Burton and Lord Mayor of Bradford Councillor Doreen Lee. The awards are organised by the Telegraph & Argus and Bradford Council, and are sponsored by Better Start Bradford.

Mr Burton said: “Throughout the year we hear numerous uplifting stories about people who show outstanding courage in trying circumstances, those who put others before themselves, unsung heroes who work tirelessly to make their communities better and always go the extra mile. This is our chance to give you the recognition you deserve.”
