HUNDREDS of stars decorated by youngsters are bringing festive brilliance to Colchester town centre.

A festive project, supported by In Colchester, has seen school pupils design and decorate a collection of 650 3D stars.

The stars are on display at key locations in the town centre including Culver Square and Colchester Library.

Visitors to the lights switch-on event in Colchester town centre took in the sight of the stars adorning shops and landmarks.

A spokesman for Colchester Business Improvement District said: “Revellers took the opportunity to head off on the trail to find the 600 stars decorated by pupils and featured around town.

“Schools from across the area painted and designed the 3D stars, which are now hung around town at a number of locations.”

Participating schools each received about 30 stars to decorate as they saw fit and once the festive season is over, these will be returned to the schools for them to keep.

In Colchester will be running the star hunt art trail in December. Information on the whereabouts of each school’s stars can be found via incolchester.co.uk.
