PLASTIC-FREE period company, Fialuna, is giving away menstrual cups this Christmas to help tackle period poverty in the district.

In partnership with Freedom4Girls, Fialuna will donate a menstrual cup every time a purchase is made between now and December 31.

A study by Plan International UK found that one in 10 girls cannot afford to buy menstrual products.

Dominique Gaspar, the founder of Fialuna, said: "There are a number of charities taking on period poverty at the moment.

"We partnered with Freedom4Girls on a fabric drive to support their pad making workshops earlier this year which was a great success and we hope that we can add to that success by providing menstrual cups to those in need too.”

Menstrual cups can be worn for up to 12 hours and reused for up to 10 years.
