BEN Elton will return to what made him famous when he performs stand-up comedy in Bradford next week.

The author, playwright, director and sitcom writer, famous for hits including The Young Ones and Blackadder, will take centre stage when he performs at St George's Hall on Sunday, December 8.

For the first time in 15 years, Elton is touring his unique brand of stand-up comedy. With days to go before the general election, he is sure to do a 'little bit of politics' and there could well be some Brexit chat.

He made his name in British comedy scene as the host of the Channel 4 show Saturday Live. The weekly live show ran from 1985-88 and featured performances and sketches from a host of Britain’s best-loved comedians.

Alongside his stand-up career, Elton has had huge success as an author, playwright, actor and director.

Elton has also written two films; 2000’s Maybe Baby and 2017’s Three Summers. He has reached a new audience for his sitcom writing in recent years with BBC Two's Upstart Crow, starring David Mitchell as William Shakespeare.

He also wrote the stage play, We Will Rock You, based on the music of British rock legends Queen, which will also stop in Bradford early next year.

The St George's Hall date is the latest stop on his huge autumn UK tour, which ends on December 20.

Ticket for the show, which starts at 7.30pm, are available priced £31.50 including a booking fee, at bradford-theatres.co.uk.
