AT LEAST three bus shelters in Eccleshill have been smashed in a spate of vandalism attacks.
The bus shelters - one on Stonehall Road and two on Bolton Road - are believed to have been damaged yesterday but how and why this happened is unknown.
A spokesperson West Yorkshire Combined Authority said: “We are aware of this damage, we have contacted our contractors to ensure the stops are safe and to carry out repairs or replacements and West Yorkshire Police are aware.
“Unfortunately, each year the West Yorkshire Combined Authority spends a six-figure sum on repairing damage caused by this kind of vandalism.
“This is of local taxpayers’ money which could otherwise be used on improving local transport and facilities so we would encourage anyone who witnesses this type of behaviour to report it to us or the police.”
