DRIVERS that “flouted” parking rules near a Bradford hospital have been fined.

Bradford Council Traffic Wardens were on patrol on Squire Lane, near Bradford Girls Grammar School and Bradford Royal Infirmary, on Thursday.

A number of drivers were spoken to for parking illegally on the busy street - and a number were further punished after refusing the wardens’ advice to move on.

There have been issues with dangerous and illegal parking on Squire Lane for many years.

Of the most recent action, a Bradford Council spokesperson said: “Eight Penalty Charge Notices were issued on November 21 on Squire Lane.

"The drivers were given the option of moving on but when those same drivers returned and flouted parking contraventions again they were issued with Penalty Charge Notices.

"As Squire Lane is one of the major routes to the Bradford Royal Infirmary it is essential that traffic is able to flow properly and the risk to pedestrians is minimised.”
