GROWING cannabis for his own use cost a Holme Wood man more than £500 after pleading guilty before a magistrates’ court on Friday.
Liam Selby, 29, of Landscove Avenue, admitted producing the controlled Class B drug after police attended an address in Farway, Holme Wood, on May 3, and found six plants.
The court heard officers had attended for another matter and made the discovery.
Prosecuting, David Ward said the Crown accepted his admission that the drug was for personal use, adding police had estimated the value of the crop to be over £4,400.
The bench heard Selby had 10 convictions for 19 offences, a number of which were for possession with intent to supply Class B drugs.
He was fined £400 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £30. An order was made for the forfeiture and disposal of the plants.
