BINGLEY Weekender was a roaring success in its inaugural year and now the first headliners for 2020 have been announced.

Just a few days after the end of the festival this year, organisers SSD Concerts announced the much-loved event would return, with more than 1,000 tickets sold in three hours on the day of release.

It will take place between September 4-6 and now a bunch of exciting artists have been announced for Bingley Weekender 2020.

This first release of acts includes headliners Primal Scream, The Libertines, and Tom Walker.

Glasgow-formed band Primal Scream will headline the Friday.

The band's breakthrough album "Screamadelica" came out in 1991, after they formed back in 1982.

Some of the band's biggest hits include "Movin On Up", "Come Together" and "Loaded".

Other confirmed acts for the first day of the festival are Peter Hook & The Light - who you may know better from Joy Division and New Order - and Sheffield four-piece The Reytons, who have sold-out multiple dates on their Spring 2020 tour.

The Saturday of Bingley Weekender 2020 is shaping up to follow in the footsteps of this year's festival, where the Doves headlined on the Main Stage.

Next year's event will see none other than indie band The Libertines headline - it's fair to say they need little introduction.

The band, co-fronted by the charismatic duo of Pete Doherty and Carl Barât, are well-known for producing tracks that are perfect for the live stage.

They released their third album "Anthems For A Doomed Youth" in 2015.

Directly below them on the billing are The Amazons - one of the UK’s largest indie rock breakthrough acts of the last few years.

Their breakout eponymous debut album was released in 2017 and contained hits like "Black Magic" and "Junk Food Forever".

Festivalgoers will also be treated to the tones of songstress Jade Bird on the Saturday.

She was a finalist on BBC’s Sound Of 2019 Poll and her self-titled debut album came out in April of the same year.

The final day is just as jam-packed as the others, as was the case this year when iconic Manchester band James performed to droves of fans on the Sunday evening.

Next year, the job of keeping the crowd energised will fall to the likes of Tom Walker and Hyde Park Brass - the first acts to be announced for the Sunday.

Tom Walker is a Scottish-born singer-songwriter with a knack for writing lyrics and giving performances that strongly resonate with his burgeoning fanbase.

Walker's singles, "Leave A Light On" and "Just You and I", have both gained heavy airplay.

Meanwhile, all is not as it seems with Leeds-based Hyde Park Brass.

They combinie skillful musicianship and the infectious energy of EDM.

There is still more to come too.

Comedy acts and more than 50 bands and artists are set to be added to the lineup in the near future.

SSD Concerts took the reins to create Bingley Weekender, after Bingley Music Live was cancelled at short notice earlier this year.

Thousands turned up for the inaugural, new-look event.

The organisers are looking forward to another fruitful festival in 2020.

Steve Davis, Managing Director of SSD Concerts said: "We are delighted that last year's event was so well received by the people of Bingley after they were let down by the cancelation of the ill fated Bingley Music Live.

"The challenge now is to supersede expectations and bring an event that does the people of the town justice and firmly puts Bingley on the Festival Map once again."
