A MAN described by a court as a ‘serial driving offender’ has been jailed for 16 weeks after being caught driving while disqualified in Bradford.
Mohammed Usman, 23, of Lindley Road, Bradford, pleaded guilty at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court to the charge. He was stopped by police on October 17 after being spotted in the Brown Royd, Horton Grange and Summerville Road area of the city.
The court heard Usman, who worked three evenings a week in his parents’ takeaway business, was currently on a driving ban until September 2020 and was also in breach of his licence from prison after being convicted on August 23 for a similar offence.
The defendant had also served time in prison for dangerous driving offences.
No mitigation was offered.
Usman was also banned from driving for five years from the date of the court hearing and was ordered to pay court costs and a surcharge amounting to £122.
