THE Bell Busk dairy which became the first in the country to make Nordic skyr has added new flavours as part of a re-branding.

Hesper Farm says it has carried out a new branding to reflect its position in taking farming and dairy into the future, and has also launched a new flavour range of the fat-free product, including a limited edition Yuzu and Matcha.

The farm was the first in Britain in 2015 to start making skyr after family member Sam Moorhouse travelled to Iceland to learn the technique.

The award winning farm is still the only one to make the product using British milk and an original Icelandic skyr culture.

Since 2015, Hesper’s skyr has won a host of awards and business owner Sam was recognised as Dairy Innovator of the Year in the British Farming Awards 2017.

The new-look pots and website have been designed to communicate the stand that Hesper is taking to represent the best of modern, British dairy.

Sam, 27, said: “We’re not just here to do dairy, we’re here to change it. Our new logo is the H of Hesper but in the form of a cow standing strong. We are proud to stand for the heritage of Hesper Farm, where my family has farmed our pedigree dairy herd for generations.

“But we’re also now taking a stand for the future. We are a young team, the next generation of farmers working hard for the future in a way that prioritises both high-welfare, sustainable farming and bold, uncompromising innovative products.”

The Great Taste award-winning Simply Natural skyr will stay in the range but is now joined by new flavours raspberry and hibiscus, cold brew coffee and vanilla, damson, blackberry and blueberry, with Yuzu and Matcha as a limited edition.

Skyr uses about four times as much milk as standard yoghurt making it very high in protein and calcium, while it also naturally contains no fat.

Sam said: “I first went to Iceland to learn the techniques used to make skyr traditionally. It’s the authentic way we make it back home in the Yorkshire Dales which results in a skyr that is naturally thick and creamy without any additives or fillers. We are committed to a natural product without anything artificial.”

He added: “This is an exciting time for us. We recently secured investment to grow the business further and have never been more ready for a national supermarket account. We now have a bold new look which really reflects our values and we’re confident our ever-growing loyal customer base will like it as much as we do.”

Hesper skyr is stocked in all Booths stores, selected Morrisons stores in Yorkshire as well as independent retailers, including Keelham Farm Shop.
