POLICE have issued an appeal after an attempted sexual assault on a woman, near a park.

The incident happened on Saturday, at around 10:25pm, on New Park Walk, Farsley.

The female victim walked through Hainsworth Park and was grabbed by a man as she left the park and walked along New Park Walk.

He attempted to sexually assault her.

He is described as a white male, in his late 20s to early 30s, of average build.

He was wearing a dark hoodie and trainers.

Detective Inspector Amanda Wimbles of Leeds District CID said: "We are treating this incident very seriously and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

"This was clearly a very upsetting ordeal for the victim and she is being supported by specially trained officers.
