A DRIVER was caught doing more than double the speed limit outside a school.
The Steerside Enforcement Team have been carrying out speed checks on Bradford Road, outside Beckfoot School, for the past few days.
On Wednesday, three drivers were stopped and dealt with for speeding.
But, later that day a driver was caught doing more than double the speed limit, for that time.
Officers returned at the end of the school day, when an advisory 20mph limit is in place on the road, between its junction with Southlands Avenue and where it crosses the River Aire.
The car was clocked at going 50mph.
Police continued the operation yesterday.
Several drivers were stopped.
One was showing as not being insured, but it turned out the driver was.
A speeding skip wagon was also stopped by police.
The operation was a joint effort between the Steerside Enforcement Team and Shipley Neighbourhood Policing Teams.
They were responding to concerns from residents, parents and teachers.
This stretch of Bradford Road usually has a 30mph speed limit in place, but this drops to 20mph at the start and end of the school day.
