PLANS for a new soft play centre on a Bingley street have been refused a second time.

An application to convert a former tool workshop on Ash Terrace, next to Myrtle Park Primary School was refused in August, with officers said not enough parking was provided.

The plans were re-submitted with a traffic statement that claimed the three customer parking spaces and one staff space in the plans would be adequate.

It pointed out that the area was easy to access by public transport and by walking.

There would be a maximum of seven children using the centre at any one time - the report said.

'Retirement village' plan for long empty Bingley site approved

But planning officers have refused the scheme again, saying: “The proposed change of use would be likely to lead to an intensification in the number of vehicles visiting the site and an increase in demand for on-street parking in an area where demand is already high.

"Whilst information submitted suggests that four parking spaces are proposed, this is an inadequate level of provision for the proposed use and, the limited parking proposals offered would result in vehicles reversing out of the proposed parking bays that would be likely to experience poor visibility as a result of the columns and neighbouring vehicles over a busy pedestrian footpath to exit and turn, likely to be detrimental to highway safety."
