A NEW nail bar and beauty salon could open its doors in Bradford city centre if plans are approved.

Ha Thu Pham, of Fairy Nail and Spa Beauty, has submitted an application to Bradford Council to turn a retail unit on Kirkgate into the new venture.

The application says the unit has been a mobile phone shop.

"The proposal will have the benefit of occupying a retail unit which has been standing empty for some time and will result in the creation of new employment," says the application.

It adds: "The site forms part of the Kirkgate Centre which is a major retail centre

in the city and is located between two (A1) retail units. The proposed change of use is similar to an A1 use such as a hairdresser."

The application says there would be two full-time employees and six part-time employees and that it would be open between the hours of 8am and 6pm Monday to Saturday.

It says: "The proposed development will not be harmful to the vitality or viability of this primary shopping street within the primary shopping area of Bradford city centre and would not be harmful to visual amenity, residential amenity or highway safety."
