The Midland Hotel is a stalwart of the Bradford city centre scenery, standing proud for 125 years, having recently celebrated its birthday.

It is neatly situated right next to Bradford Forster Square Railway Station and has been a hit with the stars over its illustrious history.

This includes the likes of The Beatles and the Rolling Stones.

Jurys Inn, located in the centre of Bradford on Thornton Road, is relatively new on the scene, having opened in 2010.

But the hotel has experienced great success over the past nine years.

The Dubrovnik Hotel was the pick of the bunch though.

The independently owned business, based in Oak Avenue, has been run by the Basic family since 1979.

It is a fitting time to receive this award, considering the hotel is celebrating its 40th birthday this year.

General Manager Ned Basic said: "It’s the right timing for our 40th birthday celebrations – it just fits in really well with what we’re already doing, celebrating this year.

"So it’s just fitting that we’ve got the award as well."

The celebrations are entering their twilight period as the year comes to an end, but the hotel will be using 2019's success as a springboard for the future.

"We’re actually coming towards the end of the 40th celebration in December, but 2020 seems to be positive.

"We’ve got loads of new ideas and bits coming into business which we’ll be introducing."

The hotel management team are the first to admit times have been tough for the industry over recent years, particularly in Bradford.

But, their mantra is what keeps them on the right track, despite all the changes that have occurred.

Mr Basic said: "It’s challenging, but if you’ve got the right product, if you’ve got the right attitude, Bradford is the ideal destination to see all that’s good and great here in Yorkshire and in the surrounding areas as well.

"One of our agents said in London, what’s changed, why are you still there?

"Well social media’s changed, Trip Advisor’s changed, but the good things that haven’t changed are the good old-fashioned hospitality done right and that will always prevail really in what we do."
