WELCOME to Yorkshire will be turning heads in the capital on Saturday for the Lord Mayor’s Show as the tourism body continues to celebrate its 10th birthday celebrations

It will be the tenth year that Welcome to Yorkshire has taken part in the unique procession.

Two fully Yorkshire-branded BMW X3 cars will drive through the parade - with the brand’s iconic yellow Y attached to each roof. The colourful cars will be accompanied by a group of dancers who will put on a show, whilst members of the Welcome to Yorkshire team carry pink flags and hand out white roses to spectators.

This year, the cars have toured a variety of locations, being a highlight of the Tour de Yorkshire and UCI Road World Championship publicity caravans.

The branded cars have been supplied to Welcome to Yorkshire by Global Autocare and the giant Y’s were produced by Three Create - both Yorkshire-based companies.

Welcome to Yorkshire’s commercial director Peter Dodd said: “We’ve been showcasing Yorkshire to the world at the Lord Mayor’s Show since 2010 and this weekend is shaping up to be our most colourful and lively year yet, with eye-catching cars, giant flag bearers, dancers and hundreds of white roses - it’s sure to stand out from the crowd!”

The Welcome to Yorkshire float will be one of 143 taking part in the prestigious procession, which dates back 804 years to 1215.

The procession is watched by more than 500,000 people who line the streets of London, as well as more than two million viewers, live on BBC One from 10.45am.
