A MUSICAL-theatre show portraying the story of the West Yorkshire wool trade is being is being revived by its original director and performer.
Follow the Fleece will be performed as part of a tour this month featuring a chorus of more than 20 singers and narrator.
The show was first performed 10 years ago to much acclaim, and has been revived by Nigel Schofield, a leading figure on the local folk music scene, who not only directed the first production but performed as Sir Titus Salt.
Follow the Fleece is described as a story of high finance, industrial espionage, revolution, transformation, triumph and disaster.
It tells the story of the rise and fall of the wool trade, from the Norman Conquest to the present day, using especially written for the show, traditional songs from the 15th to the 20th century, and works from composers as diverse as JS Bach and Bruce Springsteen.
Follow the Fleece will be performed at Kildwick and Farnhill Institute on Friday, November 22 at 7.30pm. The show will also be performed at St Mary’s Church, Cottonstones, near Sowerby Bridge, on Saturday November 9; in Oxenhope in November 16; and at St John’s Church, Menston on Saturday, November 23.
