A DISGRUNTLED resident has been left "absolutely appalled" after appearing to catch a refuse worker urinating in a communal bin store.

Richard Murie, who lives in an apartment off Lady Lane in Bingley, said it happened this morning and follows a history of problems with bin collections.

Bins not being emptied or put back and left in the middle of the car park, or the apartments being missed completely are some of the issues residents have had to deal with, he said.

"I've flagged it up several times with the Bradford Council twitter," Mr Murie said.

"They've usually got back to me pretty quickly and on the last occasion the bins were totally missed they'd come back out within a couple of hours and did them, off the back of the tweet."

But Mr Murie said for at least the last two - and possibly more - fortnightly recycling collections, two of the bins have been untouched and not emptied at all.

When he heard the bin wagon arrive this morning, he looked out of the window to see if all the bins were going to be taken, but said he then saw one of the binmen going back to the bin store, between two large general waste skips, and that he was "clearly having a wee".

Addressing Bradford Council on Twitter he said: "This total indifference to doing the job they’re supposed to do is annoying enough, for them to be urinating on private property is disgusting."

He added: "Please escalate this matter, I am absolutely appalled."

The Council has offered to disinfect the area.

A spokesperson told the Telegraph & Argus: “Sorry to hear Mr Murie is having difficulties with his bin collections.

"We are looking into this as a matter of urgency.

"Regarding the complaint against a council member of staff, this matter is being looked into and it would be inappropriate to comment until the outcome of this investigation is known.”
