POLICE had to subdue a man with PAVA spray after he threatened them with a glass shard.

He was arrested as a result.

Officers were called to reports of a man using threatening behaviour at premises in Esholt Lane, Baildon, at 11:46pm last night.

A police spokesperson said: "Attending officers found the man was in drink and in possession of a piece of glass."

CCTV footage seen by the T&A shows a police car swing round into what looks to be a car park.

Two officers then cautiously get out of the vehicle and attempt to move towards the man.

But the police spokesperson said: "The man refused to put the glass down and continued to use threatening behaviour towards the officers."

At one point, the man moves forward in an aggressive manner towards one of the officers.

The police car separates the two though and the officer quickly moves further out of reach.

The man then turns his attention to the other officer and begins to move around the car, following him.

Eventually the police use PAVA spray (similar to pepper spray) on the man to subdue him, for the safety of themselves and members of the public.

An ambulance was requested.

The man was then taken into custody, where he remains today while enquiries continue.

This comes after a separate man was arrested in Keighley last night for chasing police with a knife.
