A RACE Night in aid of Bradford PHAB Club is taking place at Shipley Social Club.

The Richard Mountain Memorial race night evening on Friday, November 8, is an annual event which helps raise money for the Bradford physically handicapped and able bodied club, based at the Mappa community building, in Coates Street.

Mr Mountain was a life-long member of the club until his death and the event in his name provides vital income to allow the club to continue supporting young people from around the district.

The club provides activities, such as swimming, trips out and summer camps for youngsters of all abilities.

Chairman Akbar Khan, a housing officer with Leeds City Council, said the evening was an important part of the fundraising calendar which usually raises around £2,000 for the charity.

"It provides vital income to continue to be able to provide activities and trips for those less able," he said.

There are nine races on the night with an owner's race at the end.

The first race sets off at 7.30pm.

Entry is £10 to include food and entertainment.

There will also be a tombola and raffle.

One of the raffle prizes is a family holiday worth £1,500 donated by MD Construction.

Anyone able to offer prizes such as free meals, car washes etc, can get in touch with Mr Khan on 07850964864 or email: aky.khan@hotmail.co.uk
