QUEENSBURY High Street will be lit up with Christmas lights when the switch on is carried out on November 30.

After accomplishing their aim of regular litter picking, the friends of Queensbury High Street wanted a more festive project.

The plan for Christmas lights was first made last November and was boosted with a donation of £12,000 from Paul Clark, owner of the Black Dyke Mill. This gave the group a huge head start towards the total cost of £15,500. A Go Fund me account was then set up and the group held a collection in Tesco over a weekend in August.

The group has planned for lots of stalls to be in Victoria Hall, Sandbeds, and a Santa’s grotto complete with Mrs Claus and Santa himself. The switch on will be at 3.45pm. Entry is free.
