A COMMUNITY group is making inroads into cleaning up the streets of Bierley and seeks more volunteers to help.
Jonathan Crewdson, current chairman of Bierley Neighbourhood Forum, said the group meets each month with a vision of tackling litter problems and is looking at ways of protecting local services.
The group is quite new with around 20 members and recently held a successful litter pick.
"We have a number of ideas to improve the area which the group is developing and hope we can build on it by encouraging other people to join," he said.
Another litter pick is planned in the near future.
Mr Crewdson said he is giving up the role of chairman as he now lives out of the district, but will remain a member.
Members of his family still live in Bierley and he visits around once a week.
The group meets at the Greenwood Inn, on the last Tuesday of the month at 7pm when people can put ideas forward.
The next meeting is this coming Tuesday, October 29, at 7pm.
