BARNOLDSWICK Town have announced their replacement for Matt Barnes this morning, with Endrit Shehu confirmed as the new manager of the North West Counties Football League Premier Division side.

He will be assisted by Matthew Cavanagh, who like Shehu, was already working at the club as part of the management team before Barnes' departure.

The pair will be hoping to guide Barlick up towards the play-offs, with the side currently sitting 13th after losing their last two league games.

In an interview posted on the club's Twitter, Shehu said: "I'm proud (to become manager) to be honest. I'm happy the club trusted in me and gave me the opportunity to take them further.

"I played football until I was around 21/22 but then I realised I wasn't going to reach where I wanted. That's why I came to England, went to university and studied sports coaching.

"I had to do some work experience at university so I went to Preston North End and I've been there for seven years, volunteering to coach the Under-13s.

"The last three or four years I've been working with the Liverpool International Academy as well which I really enjoyed, it's a different experience.

"My full time job is working at Burnley College, where I'm a personal trainer and coach one of the college football teams. It's football every day.

He added: "Last year, I applied for the job at Barnoldswick, that was my ambition, to be the manager at Barnoldwick.

"At the time, they thought I wasn't ready so I've been here a year and half now (working with the players). This is a great time, I'm ready for the step up and I'm very excited."
