A WELL-KNOWN tailor is hoping to take his wares to the big political stage after creating a special suit for Jeremy Corbyn.

Brexit deadline-day is just around the corner and with the threat of a General Election looming IK Collection owner, Imran Kahn, wants Mr Corbyn to be looking his best.

The clothing store recently went in-house and over the past few months Mr Khan has been crafting a special pin-striped suit for the Member of Parliament, with the help of his dedicated team.

Mr Khan said: "Off our own back, we said we wanted to do something for him.

"It's not just about him, it's about poverty as well.

"The amount of people who come to this door asking for money.

"I always keep 10 pounds back here to give out and it always goes."

The cloth - which is made in Yorkshire - came back from a printers in London a few weeks ago.

A special message was printed onto the suit, running down it in pinstripes.

It reads: "For the many, not the few."

The finishing touches were then made to the suit last week, with the final step seeing Mr Khan sew on the buttons, last Friday.

Mr Khan said: "I showed the suit to Jabran Hussain who said, 'Jeremy Corbyn will never wear a pinstripe suit'.

"Then when I zoomed in on the letters he said, 'he will love that'."

The suit connoisseur knows just about all the measurements for politicians in the Labour party, using the internet and other sources.

For this piece, the fitting has been left slightly baggier, to suit Mr Corbyn's style.

Mr Khan said: "I've done my research. I've asked my MPs - I've asked all of them."

The store owner also recently spoke to Mr Corbyn's personal assistant and was advised to present it to him, when he next visits the area.

Mr Khan wants to welcome Mr Corbyn to Bradford and wants him to wear the suit at one of IK Collections's functions.

He said: "I will make him wear it."

Over the years, Mr Khan has crafted suits for a number of celebrities, stars and names.

His latest visitors are more accustomed to the cobbles of Coronation Street, rather than the streets of Bradford.

But both Charlie De Melo (who plays Imran Habeeb) and Jimmi Harkishin (Dev Alahan) have come to IK Collections for their suits.

Mr Harkishin travelled all the way from North London for a meeting with Mr Khan, having been recommended to do so on a number of occasions.

Mr Khan said: "I've worked with a lot of stars, but he is really nice and genuine.

"He started talking about personal stuff.

"He lives in North London and I said, 'why don't you come to Bradford and I'll take you for a curry', when he picks his suit up.

"He said 'I would love to do that'."
