TAKE a look at this labour of love created by the Shipley Model Railway Society.

It has been on display over the weekend at the Bradford Industrial Museum as part of its Modelmania exhibition.

This intricate piece, which took two years to plan and more than a  decade to create, is a model of Leicester goods, which was part of the Leicester Central Station on the Great Central Railway.

Frank Davies, chairman of the society, said visitors had reacted with amazement.

"It's a large layout, even by exhibition standards," he said. "So they are quite impressed, but there's also the accuracy and detail which the members have put in to it."

Even the rolling stock is a true representation of what would have been seen at the time. The piece is set between 1948 and 1956.

Mr Davies said it was a pleasure to be able to show the piece off, as it's usually in storage while members work on their next creation - a model of Clayton set around 1930.

The society meets on Tuesdays at 7.30pm at the Baildon Recreation Centre on Green Lane. New members are welcome.
