BRADFORDIANS can officially get their geek on with a new unique business opening tomorrow.

Geek Retreat, in Bank Street, officially launches at 10am on Saturday providing the city with a venue to play games, try out new things and eat and drink.

From board games to tabletop strategy games, there's something for everyone.

Owners Matthew Johnston and Joey Hufton want this to be a place for the hardcore gamers, but also for families and more casual players to come too.

Mr Johnston said that punters can come into Geek Retreat free of charge and pick up a board game from the wall and just play, in a bright, vibrant space.

He added: "I'm a massive geek, so I wanted something cool and in Bradford there's not really anything hitting that niche.

"There's Games Workshop on Piccadilly, but that's tucked away and it's not a mainstream thing."

The space also features a café where visitors can refuel on paninis, hot dogs and soft drinks, among other items.

Anyone looking to top up their Yu-Gi-Oh decks, or for tabletop figurines will be able to grab products from the in-house shop too.

The retreat will offer some games consoles for people to play, but the main focus is on getting people on the tables.

Mr Johnston said: "We've got Dungeons and Dragons, Magic: The Gathering and we want to give a space for people to come out and off their mum's kitchen table, or all piling into one person's house.

"That's the goal, come in all day. Rock up at 11am and not go until 9pm."

The Geek Retreat will be open seven days a week.

Monday to Saturday opening times are from 11am-9pm, while on Sunday it is open from 12pm-7pm.
