A LEADING digital TV service provider has issued a warning to many Bradford homes.

Freeview provides more than 60 channels to around 19 million UK households.

But, information released by the company states some of those using the service will need to retune their boxes, including those in Bradford.

The changes are set to impact TVs on or after October 23.

In some cases, the TV will retune automatically.

The changes to Freeview signals have been underway since July 2017.

They began in Scotland and the updates are being worked around the rest of the UK until 2020.

Currently, it is Bradford's turn, with other areas in Yorkshire impacted as well on October 23, such as Sheffield and Huddersfield.

The Freeview website shows that on or after November 13, updates are set for the Bilsdale, Bradford West and Idle transmission stations.

But, as mentioned above, checks for Bradford locations serviced by these transmitters showed they could be impacted much sooner on October 23.

The updates are part of a Government plan.

It decided that some of the airwaves used by Freeview were to be reallocated to allowed for the future development of new broadband services.
