THE BIGGEST pound store in the world was packed to the rafters on its opening day.

One Below in Forster Square Retail Park, dubbed the UK's "biggest pound store", officially welcomed the public in for the first time on Friday.

The T&A were one of the first through the doors taking a look at all the discount shop had to offer.

It was proving popular already, even at 10am in the morning, with a queue developing just to grab a basket.

The aisles were full of shoppers excitedly perusing the weird and wonderful on the shelves.

Everything is well regimented into specific sections - with some expectedly busier than others.

But everywhere you look there's a bargain to be had, with most items priced at a £1, while others are set at 79 and 49 pence.

The store's seasonal section was a delight to behold, with all the essentials available at cut-price figures.

There is a whole aisle dedicated to Christmas, but it was the Halloween section that was like the M62 on Friday rush-hour.

There was also a lot of help on hand, if you couldn't find exactly what you wanted.

The company has created 20 jobs at the site and staff members were bustling about giving directions and helping people get used to the expansive layout of the store.
