HAWORTH cricketers have handed over the final part of the proceeds of their charity events in memory of player Ian Wycherley.

British Heart Foundation area manager Ken Downing visited Haworth Cricket Club to receive a cheque from members.

Ken had visited the club's Charity Fun Day in August, and this time took along four BHF volunteers.

The charity day raised more than £3,000, with a donation from the club, and some of it was used to buy defibrillator for the cricket ground.

The remaining £1,500 was donated to the British Heart Foundation, along with the £1,200 proceeds of a sponsored walk in early October.

A club spokesman said: "We’re all still in shock. Everyone has been so generous and we must thank businesses and individuals alike! We’re so proud to have been able to help such a great cause and effort in memory of such a wonderful person.

"Only this week, local firm Habasit has donated £200 to the cause. We’re just blown away! Ian would have been amazed and loved all the events, we’re all sure about that.

"It was so lovely to be able to talk to Ian’s family at the cheque presentation - it was impossible on the fun day - and to know how much it all means to us all.

"The defibrillator will be installed very soon, and will be placed so that the club and the public have full access."
