SPANISH police officers visited Bradford to see how the district deals with hate crime.

The officers were here for National Hate Crime Week, as guests of Bradford Hate Crime Alliance. "We've been spreading, across Europe, the pioneering work dealing with hate crime in Bradford over the last 25 years," said Alliance chairman Martin Baines. "We've done this through an EU-funded project involving Spain, Finland, Bulgaria, Estonia and other countries.

"Police in Spain are developing their own work tackling hate crime and were keen to see how it is done in Bradford. The group

saw firsthand how partners and the community work together across the district. Bradford Hate Crime has over 30 reporting centres, supporting victims and linking in with the police and other partners such as Victim Support.

"The Spanish officers visited hate crime reporting centres, a mosque, Bradford Synagogue, Equity Centre, Girlington Community Centre, Appleton Academy and Bradford Police Museum."
