A COMMUNITY group is in talks with Bradford Council about taking on the historic Victoria Hall in the heart of the village.

From early next month, the Queensbury Community Programme (QCP) will begin to manage the hall and its clients.

During the six months months to May 2020, QCP will look to develop the use of the hall, in a bid to maintain the facility.

The group says it is in negotiations with the Council to agree a business plan with a view to safeguarding the pool's future.

QCP said: "Saving the Victoria Hall will mean that local people can stay local, use local facilities and not have to travel further afield.

"The asset will be developed and supported by local people and businesses. The venue will be used as a Community and Business Enterprise Hub with leisure, learning and licenced facilities."

QCP Chair Andrew Senior said: "This is a shining example of the part that historic buildings can play in a modern community life.

"We are extremely excited about developing the facility to its maximum potential for the people of Queensbury."
