A NEW cafe has opened in Cartwright Hall, the Council-run art gallery in Lister Park.

It is situated in the original 1904 Refreshment Room of the historic hall and opened in time for the cycling world championships, which came through Lister Park a fortnight ago.

Each table at the Refreshment Room cafe, is named after famous artists, including Roy Lichtenstein and LS Lowry, who all have work on display in the galleries.

Bradford Council took the decision to create a cafe after receiving consistent visitor feedback highlighting the need for one in the Hall.

The cafe will also be used for events, such as coffee mornings.

Councillor Sarah Ferriby, executive member for healthy people and places said: “Opening the cafe; completes our offer to visitors who can now come and have a look round the wonderful galleries and visit The Refreshment Room.

“It is the perfect place to sit and think about what may have already seen or plan what to see next in Cartwright Hall or the magnificent, Green Flag-awarded grounds of Lister Park.”
