A BINGLEY nursery has made a huge improvement to return to a rating of "Good", following a recent Ofsted inspection.

The education watchdog visited Wishing Well Private Day Nursery, in Crow Nest Road, for the second time this year, on September 11.

Wishing Well had received the lowest mark of "Inadequate" back in March.

But, it jumped up two ratings this time to get a "Good" rating, which the nursery last received in October 2015.

The Ofsted inspector graded Wishing Well "Good" across all categories.

The report pinpointed that children are safe and emotionally secure at the nursery, due to the practices of staff.

It said: "Promoting their wellbeing is at the heart of everything practitioners do.

"Children have strong relationships with their key person.

"They demonstrate their confidence as they laugh and exclaim during play.

"Practitioners show great respect for children and this helps children to respect each other."

The report also states that a carefully planned curriculum, the parent-practitioner relationship, and child behavioural expectations are strong points.

To improve, the nursery must reduce incidences of frustration at mealtimes.

Wishing Well is commended for helping children take pride in their achievements, particularly when those who are older lay the table for lunch and feel delight at wearing a "helper" badge.

But, the report states: "Children have to wait for prolonged periods during mealtimes and sometimes lose concentration."

The inspector also write that the nursery should provide more opportunities for children to develop their own thoughts and ideas during role play, to improve.
