BRADFORDIANS celebrating Navaratri were joined by West Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner.

Mark Burns-Williamson was invited to the festival, which symbolises the triumph of good over evil by PC Dharmesh Mistry.

The festival is celebrated by all Hindus and has a very special significance in the community leading up to Diwali.

The PCC joined PC Mistry, the local Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) and police cadets at the Shree Prajapati Association in Bradford.

He said: “It was a fantastic and very enjoyable event and I’d like to say a big thank you to Dharmesh and the volunteers for the invite and to recognise all the extra work he does for his community. Similarly to the Police Cadets and NPT Officers in attendance who really helped to make it a great evening for all concerned and strengthen those local links in keeping our communities safe.”
