A STUDENT has admitted injuring an off-duty police officer with his ‘furious’ driving.

Zakariya Khan’s victim was hurt in a collision with his car on a supermarket petrol station forecourt.

Khan, 22, of Cheltenham Road, Wrose, Bradford, pleaded guilty at Bradford Crown Court this week to causing David Hoyle bodily harm by wanton or furious driving at Morrisons at Five Lane Ends, Idle, Bradford, on July 30 last year.

Khan’s denial of the more serious offence of causing serious injury to Mr Hoyle by driving a Toyota Yaris dangerously in a public place was accepted by the Crown.

The Recorder of Bradford, Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC, imposed an interim driving ban and ordered a probation report.

A victim personal statement will be provided by Mr Hoyle for the sentencing hearing.

The case will return to Bradford Crown Court on December 6 when Khan will be sentenced for his crime.
