A YOUNG boxer who made history as one of the first Muslim and Asian girls to fight for the UK was invited for tea with the Lord Mayor of Bradford.

Sedburgh Boxing Club's Alvina Razak met councillor Doreen Lee at Bradford's City Hall where they discussed her latest performance at the National Championships in Crawley.

Alvina, who is believed to be the first Bradfordian girl to ever compete for the nation, described the meeting as an "opportunity".

The 14-year-old said: "She was a really nice, genuine person. I was happy that I got an opportunity like that.
