HUNDREDS got their print on at a returning Bradford favourite over the weekend.

The Bradford Print Fair made its fourth appearance in the city on Saturday, running from 10am until 4pm.

It's the third year in a row the event has taken place, with two Bradford Print Fairs hosted in its inaugural year of 2017.

In that time, print fans having taken in some gems of Bradford's architectural history, including Oastler Square and Assembly Bradford last year.

But 2019 brought an air of mystery and wonder, with organisers Katie Holmes and Anna Parker opting to hire out the exclusive Bradford Club building, Piece Hall Yard.

Only members of the club, and those hiring the space out, are allowed access to the interior delights of the building.

Katie Holmes said: “We wanted somewhere with a lift for disabled access, and for a bigger room.”

Anna Parker added: “Assembly Bradford was nice and a lot came to see it.

"With The Bradford Club, we liked it because it's not open to the public as such, so people are just really interested in coming into the building and seeing what it's like."

More room, means more artists and 27 print makers - in a variety of forms - showed their wares this year.

That's a big expansion on the 19 of 2018.

The lion's share of this year's entourage hailed from Bradford and the district, but there were those who travelled from the likes of Liverpool and Preston.

Ms Parker said: "I would say most people are new, maybe five people are those we've had before.

"It's quite surprising that the people we've got, we've not met before."

A familiar face for the organisers though is Rosie McAndrew.

The Bradfordian, kept up her record of attending all the Bradford Print Fairs so far.

She said: “I think in Bradford, these events bring more people in.

“Loads of print fairs are now starting up here, but this one really kicked it off.”

The illustrator designed the poster for this year’s event and also has her work on show at an exhibition in the South Square Centre, Thornton, currently.

Ms McAndrew said: “ They always use buildings that are old and really cool. It’s a nice environment and it’s always really busy.”

Nicola Kettlewell, of Baildon, has attended a number of different print fairs.

But this was her first time at the Bradford event and she said how important these local events are.

Ms Kettlewell added: “People get to see stuff that they wouldn’t normally see and it’s nice to meet people as well.”

The Bradford Print Fair is run on a voluntary basis by Ms Holmes and Ms Parker.

Both hope to return next year, saying they enjoy hosting the event.

But, the duo admitted: "We're not 100 per cent sure yet, because it does take up a lot of time."
