WILSDEN Luncheon Club is celebrating 40 years of helping the elderly get out of the house for a wholesome meal.
Often serving up a joint of quality roast beef, the meet up is attended by regulars from ages 61 up to 99.
Val Smith, who organises the menu each week, said: "One lady we used to have liked gravy so her nickname was 'Mrs Lots of Gravy'.
"The people are so friendly. They are really happy we are there to provide them with a service, they don't like it not being open."
The club dishes up plates of food 48 weeks a year with a number of long-standing volunteers on duty.
Val said: "For them it's getting out of the house and in a group together."
